Operator Manual
The full SQUVA workflow, on one page.
Built so any member of the dental team can run SQUVA on day one. Print it, pin it to the wall, or download the full PDF below.
Daily Use
Before the first patient of the day
- Power on. Press the power button on the rear panel. The 5″ LCD will light up and the voice assistant will confirm system ready.
- Lamp self-test. Allow the device 30 seconds for self-test. Confirm the “Ready” indicator on screen and check the lamp life counter (replace if < 5%).
- Wipe the chamber. With a lint-free cloth and 70% IPA, wipe the implant cradle and inside surfaces. Allow to dry.
- Confirm motion sensor. Wave a hand above the lid; it should open smoothly within ~0.5 seconds. Wave again to close.
Per-Implant Cycle
For every implant placement
- Open the lid. Wave a hand above the device. The motion sensor opens the chamber automatically.
- Insert the implant. Place the implant — still in its carrier — into the cradle. Any geometry; any manufacturer.
- Tap START. The 5″ touch screen displays a 10-second countdown. The lid closes automatically. Voice prompt: “Cycle started.”
- Wait 10 seconds. UV lamps activate. Do not attempt to open the lid mid-cycle — the safety interlock will pause the cycle and require restart.
- Cycle complete. Voice prompt: “Cycle complete.” Wave to open the lid; remove the implant.
- Place immediately. Transfer the implant directly to the osteotomy. The freshly photofunctionalised surface begins to age the moment it is exposed to air.
End of Day
Shutdown & care
- Final wipe. With a lint-free cloth and 70% IPA, wipe the cradle and chamber surfaces. Never spray solvent inside the device.
- Update the cycle counter. The screen logs the day’s cycles automatically — no manual entry required.
- Power off. Hold the power button for 2 seconds. The screen will dim and the device enters low-power standby.
- Cover & protect. Use the supplied dust cover overnight in dusty environments.
Troubleshooting
Quick recovery from common states
| State / message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “Lid not closed” | Motion sensor missed lid close | Wave a hand to close manually, retry START |
| “Lamp life low” | Lamp module < 5% life remaining | Order replacement lamp; finish current cases first |
| “Lamp life expired” | Cycle blocked for safety | Replace lamp module per service guide |
| “Cycle paused” | Lid opened mid-cycle | Close lid, re-tap START — the cycle restarts from 0 |
| “Overheat” | Cooldown active | Wait ~30 s; voice prompt will confirm “Ready” |
| Voice mute | Voice assistant turned off | Settings → Audio → Voice On |
Best Practice
Do, and don’t.
Do
- Run SQUVA as the last step before placement
- Keep the cradle clean and dry
- Track lamp life on the screen, plan replacements ahead of busy weeks
- Use the voice assistant — it stops cycle errors before they start
- Wipe the device after every list with 70% IPA on a lint-free cloth
Don’t
- Open the lid mid-cycle
- Spray cleaning solution directly into the chamber
- Photofunctionalise an implant minutes before — do it immediately before placement
- Run multiple short cycles instead of one — the cycle is engineered as 10 s
- Stack the device or place near a heat source
